A Christmas Hope

Hello again my friends and followers!

Finished another fun Christmas read last night. This book is a Christmas murder mystery. Queue the mystery music please. It is set back in like the 1800’s. Claudine is unhappily married to Wallace. Wallace is all about mingling with high society and his wife not shaming his name. While attending a Christmas party a woman is found murdered, and the accused is an author that Claudine respects and doubts that he would ever kill anyone. While the accused is on the run, Claudine seeks out to solve the murder without the knowledge or support from her husband. I found it to be a great story, quick read, and the murder is solved just before Christmas! 🎄

A Christmas Legacy

My latest quick read was so touching. I finished this one last night and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. It was so heart felt. I didn’t know the plot so I wasn’t expecting any certain outcome. Didn’t check to see if it’s a romance or not. It seemed more of a mystery to me. Gracie went to cover a few shifts of work for a girl named Millie, at a home doing housekeeping and such. She discovered while working in this home strange things had been going on. It was a page turner for me, I couldn’t wait to find out what in the heck was up with these people?

In the end, you become a little attached to one of the main characters and the end makes you want to cry, but you’re happy with the way it goes. Very well written, and a nice quick Christmas read.

A Christmas Carol

Oh yes such a classic!

Decided this year I’d would read the book before I watch the movie. I just love it! I use to get so scared when I watched this movie version, fantastic! I live every version I have ever seen.

A Quilt for Christmas

I enjoy picking up a book without reading the excerpt. Obviously I knew it was about A Quilt for Christmas. And little Fiona brings everyone together in this wonderfully heartwarming read. She’s about five years old, while her siblings are at school her mother has a medical emergency which brings Fiona to the doorstep of her neighbor, Vera. Fiona spots a quilt that Vera made and tells Vera how her mother has always wanted a patchwork quilt. The story begins with Fiona and Vera acquiring help from the community to make a quilt for Fiona’s mother for Christmas. I loved the characters, Eleanor, what fun she is, we all know an Eleanor at least once in our lifetimes, well written story line and I adored the budding friendship between Evan, Eleanor’s son and Tasha who works at the local flower shop that has volunteered to help with the quilt.  Super quick holiday read.

This book reminded me of when I was involved in a quilting group. It was the AnySoldier Quilting Bees. I found the group in the forums they had at that time. We would each make a quilting square, send them to one person who would sew them together and another would put in the batting and finish it up as a quilt to give a soldier they’d find and nominate for a quilt. I also joined in on a memorial quilt. I wasn’t real knowledgeable about quilting so it was a great way to learn and this book I read brought back those heart warming acts of kindness and kind of reminded me of that group, wondering if I’m still friends with any of them on Facebook.

After spending a few weeks courting she realizes they don’t even speak to one another and she breaks off her engagement upsetting her parents, she decides she will try one more time to see if they can get to know one another. After giving Ned a second try on Christmas Eve they announce their engagement at the family Christmas Ball.

Miracle on Ladies Mile

A delightful holiday novella. Alex is a widow who owns a department store that Grace works in doing the window displays. Sarah, Alex’s daughter brings the two together in this sweet heartfelt Christmas story.

Alchemised

I picked this book up having no idea as to what genre it is, I hadn’t a clue what it would be about. Interesting, kind of creepy characters but a great read. Top it off it is a love story, I honestly had no idea it would be.

When she was Naughty

I decided to kick off my winter reading with a holiday themed read. Don’t be fooled by the title it isn’t spicy. The main character is Chloe. Chloe is definitely witty.

She outwitted the Lord and had him wearing a waistcoat with bells on to her families Christmas Ball. Such a fun little quick romance read. Not quite 60 pages.

Two Twisted Crowns

Hello friends and followers!
I finished this story yesterday. It is Book 2 in the series. The first book left off with a cliffhanger, so I had to rush to get the second one. This book picks up where we left off. Great read, I never felt like I had read this before. Love the characters, and especially loved how it ended.

A book with a red cover

This story was highly recommended to me. This book concludes my Autumn book reading challenge! A book with a red cover.

A Civil War era romance between Megyn whose betrothed went to war to fight for the South, and Caleb who was a Confederate Captain left to die on the battlefield near Megyns home. She nursed him to health and ended up falling in love with what her Papa refers to as the enemy. A great story about forbidden love, with a little spice.

Great book about Earths natural resources.

A book set in a forest

Hello again friends and followers, today I am sharing a book I finished this evening for my Autumn book challenge.

Elspeth Spindle catches a virus at 11 years old, and The King Rowan has declared all who have this virus be removed from this Earth. Elspeth had been sent to stay with her Uncle to keep her safely hidden and finds a magical Nightmare card that her Uncle has, once the card was touched she has the soul of this nightmare within her and he speaks to her in her mind, guiding and protecting her and driving her crazy. She stumbles into  Ravyn on a path, and has to fight away free, until they meet again at a party and an unusual courtship developed between them, and they agree to work together to find all of the cards with these magical powers in hopes to cure them. The ending was so unexpected and a definite cliff hanger to the next book in the series. I enjoyed this one, it was unlike anything I have read before.

A book with an Orange cover

So for my Autumn book challenge to read a book with an orange cover I chose this one. Cute story about Lucy who works in her mom’s hometown coffee shop meets Jack whose family moved to town and opened a barista franchise across the street. I must add I was reading it from the Library on Kindle, but then I didn’t finish before it was returned and I had to get back onto a waiting list, so I checked out the audiobook version on the Hoopla app. I think the audiobook ruined it a little for me, I wasn’t hip on the narrated version.

This book is perfect for young teen girls.

One for the Money

Hello again friends and followers!

Finished this book today.

This author and this series came highly recommended. I enjoyed this one. Stephanie is struggling financially and her cousin Vinnie runs a bounty Hunter agency, she lands a job worth 10,000 dollars to catch a guy wanted for murder. Just so happens she’s known him since childhood and may have made out with him a few times over the years. For 10,000 she’s willing to catch him. Great read, fun, with some action, little brutality, but well written easy to follow and loved the story line I couldn’t put it down.

The Midnight Bookshop

Hello again, this book I had in my To Be Read category for the longest time. I made myself knock it off the list and I’m pleased I did! Approved young adult read, magical, friendships, immersive.

A story about 3 unlikely friends Jo, Kye, and Adalaide, Joanna and Kye met when Jo was dropping off a donation. They decided to meet up near a coffee shop and agree to search for The magical midnight bookshop together. Once they get inside they are told the book will choose them and they each find a book to read and agree to form a small book club of sorts at the direction of The midnight bookshops caretaker, Fay. They each immerse themselves in their chosen books and are able to relate their lives within the books they have read, and are able to change their miserable lives for the better in the end.

Wild Reverence

Hey friends and followers!

Finished this book today, I really enjoyed it!

It’s somewhat a romantic fantasy, nothing spicy. I don’t recall anything that a teenager couldn’t be privy to. About a goddess named Matilda and a mortal named Vincent. Matilda meets Vincent in his dreams when they are young teenagers and find one another in the real world many years later. Matilda is raised by Bane who is not her real father. It is a love story between the love of a father for his daughter as well.   :)

A book with Autumn in the title

An easy quick read. Joanne has financial troubles and has been hiding her shopping addiction from her parents, meets a sweet guy that works at the library, starts going on dates and has friends to lean on that offer to help her sell her items and pay off her debts.

Today I am sharing a book I read for my Autumn book reading challenge.

I couldn’t put the book down, it was a page turner.

It does have some spice, so I do not recommend to anyone under age of eighteen, I liked the story line, it was a unique read for me, having never read from this type of genre before.

Bookish September

Hello friends and followers!

Today I decided to start an Autumn book reading challenge.

What is that, you may be asking yourself? .

I found an assortment of ideas on Pinterest and figured what the heck I have been doing a lot of reading lately, so why not share with all of you.

I will do my best at leaving a review of whatever I choose to read without giving up any book details in case you are interested in reading it as well.

We will see how it goes, and hopefully the outcome will be more posts and possibly some great book ideas to take with you on your next cozy moment, camp out or road trip.
