Modern Wagoneers of Oklahoma

It's Saturday September 29th, it was a fun day of gathering with old and new friends at Oklahoma Good Sam RV Club Oklahoma Chapter the Modern Wagoneer Sam meeting. We all met at Frank & Ann's home. Frank is an extremely talented retired artist, his art work lined the halls of their home and was just stunning, to say the least. Paintings, and drawings I was very impressed. Ann had delicious refreshments awaiting us for our lunch break, cake, pies, drinks you know MY KIND of goodies! My husband and I received our first patch for our Good Sam's vest. I haven't purchased the vest yet, but hubby is not to hip on the idea of wearing his Wal-Mart Greeter vest. To funny! I cannot wait to get them ordered and put all my patches on! This was the first meeting we have attended with the group, and we really enjoyed it! We all pitched in to paint the lighthouse as well as the 24 foot backdrop for the Fall Samboree. It was wonderful seeing familiar faces again it had been since our Summer vacation, when we had found out we had a house fire that we had seen some of our friends. It was very nice indeed!

Since this was our first meeting and gathering with the Modern Wagoneers group we had never met a few of its members. So that was a special treat for me to make new RVing friends! I cannot wait to go RVing with everyone! What a fun group full of inspiring people! I am so thankful to be a part of it! Appreciate everyone allowing a couple more trouble makers in the group! :)

Introduction

I’m Angela, the mama bear behind the Taste of Craftiness, Aunt B Creations, Aunt B's Cookin' and Nitty Gritty Camping blogs. I was on a mission to get out of a state of depression after my mother lost her battle with colon cancer. My mother had taught me the basics of crocheting, cooking, and baking. After she passed, I took up crocheting thinking I would learn how to make an afghan and start making tons of them for charity. The time it takes to get an afghan finished, I realized fairly quick I needed something else to fulfill my life. That is how my paper crafting hobby began. I found Marty Horn, a veteran who started Anysoldier.com and in his forums I found the Anysoldier Card swaps. We bought or handmade cards to send to each other to include in care packages we would send overseas to our soldiers serving. I decided I needed even more in my life, the depression over the loss of my mother was still too unbearable to be around most people. Our kids were just going into their teens, we were already starting late on getting a family camping tradition started. Better late than never! I bought a used 10 person tent on Ebay, we used it for one weekend out. It rained all weekend. The tent leaked, go figure. The air mattress deflated the first night. We basically boiled bacon for breakfast because we did not have proper cover. We learned a lot that first weekend out. We bought a Pop-Up camper before our next camp out and I found a few pop up camping groups meeting up around the nation. It took great courage for me to get out of the house and travel around the United States meeting other wonderful people with shared interests from all over the world at camp grounds in the country. The kids got older, we traded in the Pop-Up for a travel trailer for two. Learned that it makes for a scary tow in a real windy state like Wyoming. We traded in the Trailer for a 5th Wheel RV and a truck. I found this was what I was meant to do in my life, I found my calling. Things changed. Financial difficulties caused us to sell the 5th Wheel. And a few years later we bought a little fun Corvette and decided the next best thing to camping were day trips in our fun car. That ended. Heart breaking ending for us. This blog started out as a journal of our camp outs but has turned into my day trip journal and whatever else I can add. When there’s not a crochet hook in my hand, or we are not finding a fun place to visit for a weekend day trip, you can find me painting, reading, or playing outside with my fluffy Pomeranians.
