Texas State Line - Colorado Road Trip 2016

Arrived in Vega, Texas!

Love this historical station!

How could I miss the row of cars on Route 66 off of I-40,
 heading East towards Amarillo, TX!

We spent the night one year at the Oasis RV Park, and took a limo ride Big Texan steak house. It was awesome! If you ever get a chance to stop here for a bite to eat, do it!

Heading East Clayton, NM - Colorado Road Trip

This tee-pee looked like an antique so I grabbed a shot of it when passing by.

There is a metal shop of some sort just west of town, and I believe they make these awesome items there. This one is of a dragon on the building. What a unique idea!

A stallion done in metal art.

An Indian in metal art.

We didn't get to stop but I am think they have dinosaur prints here at this historical marker.

The photo below is definitely of days gone by. For one to be out here in the middle of what seems like no mans land and see an old drive in theatre. So cool! Even had the little speakers attached to the poles in the field. This is the snack bar.

This photo is the ticket booth and drive in entrance.

Clayton, NM - Colorado Road Trip 2016

I love these old highways. So much countryside to take in and if your lucky you will spot some wildlife grazing on the prairies.

This formation makes me think of a cookie when baking and it gets that effect on the top of it.

It never fails when we come through this way we are bound to see a train coming through at the same time, I love it!

Capulin Volcano - Colorado Road Trip 2016

I was so excited when my husband asked if I wanted to go up the Volcano. We have driven by it so many times and he has always flown by it, not even suggesting we check it out. I was like a kid getting to go to the playground.

Some of you might not think it is a big deal but for me, it was!

Okay so you really start white knuckling it on your drive up the Volcano. Especially for the passenger, when you see there is no railing and it is a drop off to your death with one wrong move here.

But the views are amazing up here and so worth the $7 a car load to drive up!

Once you make it to the top you can see the snow capped mountains in the distance you probably can see Taos, NM from here!

Absolutely stunning!

Inside the Volcano!

View of the horizon.

Up close Ancient Volcanoes- Raton, NM

Below you get a glimpse of lava rock. Tossed across the land like tissue paper in the wind. Your imagination can run wild here wondering which Volcano those rocks might have belonged to,

The mesa's were formed by the lava flow.
