White Buffalo Resort

White Buffalo Resort, Buffalo City, AR

We made our first long road trip away from home in the new travel trailer!  I picked the White Buffalo Resort due to all the reviews I have read online from all the trout being caught while staying at the White Buffalo Resort and fishing the White and Buffalo River.
Why we only fished one day is mind boggling. I caught 5 rainbows and a brown trout and my husband caught at least 5 as well. We had a great time fishing here.
We spent most of our days just enjoying our new travel trailer and all its features. I did schedule us in a few site seeing day trips to keep us busy. We headed into Mountain Home, Arkansas a few times and we visited The Wolf House, Calico Rock, and Blanchard Springs Caverns. It was the most beautiful time of year to be here with all the leaves changing into their fall colors.

Dark Side Here we come!

1st Expedition - Lake Arcadia, OK

Yes we did it! We bought our first travel trailer! Isn’t it beautiful! I must admit I wanted the Pop-Up camper, and my husband wanted a hard side camper without canvas. I guess because it reminded me of when I was young and it was happier childhood moments before my parents had divorced. We had a pop-up and went a few places camping as a family. I cherished those special times together.

When my husband and I were just dating we did a lot of camping together. We waited a bit late in our children’s years to start camping again, but after one weekend in a tent, with a deflated air mattress, leaky tent and an entire weekend in the rain. We had no clue of anything called an EZ –Up we were sold a lean to.. yes it was the quality of the name not much help but we made it through the weekend.

Needless to say we were looking for a pop-up over a 3 month time period before the purchase of the tent. I had found the Pop-Up I wanted just needed my husband to agree to it. We bought the 2008 Flagstaff HW 27, and even after leaving the RV lot the door flew open, had to duck tape it shut, when we popped it up at home it already had fraying on the canvas and black grease stains in places. We used it for the rest of 2007 and when we brought it back out in the Spring we discovered they do not use 25 year caulking, and our roof vent leaked and created more staining in the canvas. The Pop-Up of my dreams is diminishing in its beauty and we only had it a year at the time.

Even though it was a pop-up camper it fit a family of  6, that’s 2 adults and 4 teens; comfortably. I cannot say the same for the new travel trailer. It will only sleep 4.  But now that our kids are working, have their own cars, and lives, they aren’t planning any trips with us. I hope to get them on a few, but as it stands this new luxury RV travel trailer is mine and my husbands traveling 5 star honeymoon “sweet”. Winking smile

Beaver’s Bend State Park – Sept. 2011

Our weekend camping trip to Cedar Lake, Oklahoma merged into a week camp out at Beaver’s Bend State Park in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. We took a few loops around 259A missing the state park camping section every time. I was eventually able to talk the husband into stopping so I could ask for directions. It had been three years since we visited this area. Once we found the campground and set up camp we were visited by adorable squirrels running around every where. It was like I took a trip into reality Disney Chip N’ Dale’s. When you looked to the river you seen ducks fishing for their food.

Our Pomeranian was ready to kick her feet back as soon as she could. The campground is nice lots for her to see. We camped in the Acorn campground it is the outer loop with a nice shady site along the river.

It was very peaceful here. My husband caught a catfish, a couple small bass and a perch from this spot.

Some of the other great spots for trout fishing are near the Power house, The Lost Creek, the Spillway and the Evening hole.

The view outside the camper windows looked amazing, nothing but forests. It was beautiful, the birds made it sound as if you were in the jungle or something. The crows were sneaky you could not leave any type of fishing bait even if it was sealed in a baggie, they would tear it open or carry it off.

I love camping the most when I see wild life and when I get descent pictures shot of them it makes me even more pleased! We decided to take a stroll down David Boren Trail and take a look at Low Water Dam. When we returned for dinner we had the raccoons there to visit us. They visited us every night I had plenty of opportunities to get some photos. They were so adorable even if they are a nuisance to some people.

On another trip out of camp we stopped by a few other places located in Beavers Bend State Park. The Swim beach and paddle boat area. It truly was a great trip to get away from the business stress and home life. I hope you take a look through my slideshows to view more pictures!
