1st Expedition - Lake Arcadia, OK
Yes we did it! We bought our first travel trailer! Isn’t it beautiful! I must admit I wanted the Pop-Up camper, and my husband wanted a hard side camper without canvas. I guess because it reminded me of when I was young and it was happier childhood moments before my parents had divorced. We had a pop-up and went a few places camping as a family. I cherished those special times together.
When my husband and I were just dating we did a lot of camping together. We waited a bit late in our children’s years to start camping again, but after one weekend in a tent, with a deflated air mattress, leaky tent and an entire weekend in the rain. We had no clue of anything called an EZ –Up we were sold a lean to.. yes it was the quality of the name not much help but we made it through the weekend.
Needless to say we were looking for a pop-up over a 3 month time period before the purchase of the tent. I had found the Pop-Up I wanted just needed my husband to agree to it. We bought the 2008 Flagstaff HW 27, and even after leaving the RV lot the door flew open, had to duck tape it shut, when we popped it up at home it already had fraying on the canvas and black grease stains in places. We used it for the rest of 2007 and when we brought it back out in the Spring we discovered they do not use 25 year caulking, and our roof vent leaked and created more staining in the canvas. The Pop-Up of my dreams is diminishing in its beauty and we only had it a year at the time.
Even though it was a pop-up camper it fit a family of 6, that’s 2 adults and 4 teens; comfortably. I cannot say the same for the new travel trailer. It will only sleep 4. But now that our kids are working, have their own cars, and lives, they aren’t planning any trips with us. I hope to get them on a few, but as it stands this new luxury RV travel trailer is mine and my husbands traveling 5 star honeymoon “sweet”. ![]()
